Behind The Scenes: Striking Haitian Beauty!

I did a photo shoot with this gorgeous Haitian model, Martine Sainvil, whose cheerful attitude was just as delightful as her great bone structure and killer stare!  We did two separate makeup looks: one with super long, dramatic lashes combined with teal, metallic lips (which added a little edge)...and another with bright fuchsia lips and silvery smokey eyes (kept the same lengthy lashes for dramatic effect  )

Beauty on a Budget: Have You Tried e.l.f. Cosmetics?

If you're a makeup enthusiast that claims to be on a budget, yet have never tried (or even heard of) e.l.f. cosmetics, then you're definitely missing out!  I'm not saying this is the most durable brand, but it is certainly something to consider when you're shopping for good deals.  In fact, 'good deal' is an understatement when it comes to e.l.f. cosmetics.  This brand sells a variety of makeup products, application tools, and other beauty-related goodies at insanely cheap prices!

Look of the Day: Rich Orange Sunset!

My main inspiration for this look was this gorgeous orange eyeshadow I bought from MUD Cosmetics a few months ago, called "Firebrick."  I was dying to finally put it to use, so basically created a whole makeup look surrounding this one eye color.  Everything I did had to cater to the orange....from the yellow I used on the inner corner of the eye, to the chocolate brown I used above the lid.  I topped the look off with a pair of spiky, dramatic Ardell lashes.  Then headed off to my photo shoot! :)

Review: MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara

Getting straight to the point: MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash is one of my favorite mascaras, and it has been so for the past 2 or 3 years.  Well, at first its predecessor MAC Zoom Lash had the title, then this came along and knocked it off its throne!

Behind The Scenes: Photo Shoot in Harlem

Here's a behind-the-scenes look at a photo shoot in Harlem I did back in April.  This was the shoot I was headed to while wearing the Smokey Brown Eyes/Copper Cheeks look.  The above photo features model, Erica, who was set and ready to shoot!  I just needed to add the finishing touch :)

By the way, you may have noticed a similar pic in the 'About Me' section of my official website! :)

Look of the Day: Brown Smokey Eyes with Glowing Copper Cheeks

I love earth-toned colors, and brown is no exception.  A lot of times I use darker browns in my crease and 'outer v' to complement another color I'm wearing, or to add depth to the eyes...but sometimes I like to splash it all over my lids to create a sultry, smoked-out effect.  This is exactly what I did for this look I wore to a Harlem photo shoot back in April.

But not to be upstaged by the eyes, I added a rich copper color to my cheeks using one of my favorite blush combos, which had my cheeks glowing and making it's own statement :)

REVIEW: Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer

I think I first heard about this product from an article I read featuring celebrity makeup artist, Mylah Morales.  She was listing some of the products she used for a look Rihanna wore to some major Hollywood event...and I was duly taking note! (does that make any sense? Lol)

Mylah Morales used The Sensual Skin Enhancer as an under-eye concealer for Rihanna, but it can also be used as a foundation.  Personally, Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer is definitely my go-to concealer! Love it! :)

Look of the Day: Smokey Blue Midnight Eyes!

I guess most would say that this is a night-time look, but I wore it in broad daylight to The Roots Picnic event I attended in Philadelphia last weekend (which sucked by the way).   I don't tend to follow those rules that dictate what colors or shades to wear based on the time of day or season; if my mind is set on wearing bright pink eyeshadow or shimmering bronzer on any given day, I go for it!  As long as I feel comfortable and it complements my outfit...can't tell me nothing! :p ....But I digress...by conventional means, this look is great to try on a night out with your friends!

Review: Palmer's Olive Butter Formula Concentrated Cream

Call me 'OCD,' but I find it hard to leave the house without having certain key items packed and ready to go with me in my ever-filled pocket book! :)   One of those items include a small hand lotion to keep any dryness at bay, which would result from washing of hands or just from plain loss of moisture throughout the day.  What's my product of choice to help in this regard?  Palmer's Olive Butter Formula Concentrated Cream!

Look of the Day: Bronzed, Fresh Face with Navy Blue Eyeliner

This makeup look is for those who prefer a more subtle form of beauty.  Or, for the person whose outfit is already making a statement, thereby forcing everything else to be toned down for the sake of not looking...well, clownish :p

Take a peek for the complete look + list of products used (you may be surprised at how much goes into creating this relatively "natural," clean look).

Behind The Scenes: Beauty Shoot in Yonkers!

I had the pleasure of being the makeup artist for this fabulous beauty shoot, which took place late last month in Yonkers, NY.  I had actually planned on getting my hair done at the salon on this particular day, and was very much looking forward to it.  But when Aleetha Clanton (very talented hairstylist who organized this shoot) called me to join the creative team, I couldn't resist!

Why?........
