My Two Cents on the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette...

Hello there! .... I've been meaning to talk about the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette since it came out, but I'm just getting around to it.  First of all, when I heard the news of its release...I wasn't too thrilled.  I had JUST bought their original Naked Palette in November, during their Friends and Family Sale, and I wish I knew of this upgrade so I had the option of choosing between the two (in case one was better than the other).  I felt almost cheated...I thought to myself: "I should've known they were up to something when they decided to finally discount the Naked Palette-- a cult favorite"!  It's like buying the iPhone 3 today, only to discover the iPhone 4 is being released next week!  What the hell?? Lol.... Well anyway, what's done is done.

Would it be worth me going ahead and buying the Naked2 despite barely getting the original Naked palette wet?  Click below to find out....

How to PROPERLY Remove Your Makeup At Night!

How do you remove your makeup before you go to bed at night?  Wait, do you even remove it?? Lol... I know some people use makeup remover wipes, and others will just use their regular face wash and call it a night (never mind the foundation stains left on the white wash cloth after they're finished).  Neither of the two methods are ideal.  Makeup remover wipes can leave unwanted residue....while regular face washes weren't built to go through layers of foundation, powder, concealer, blush etc. before getting to your skin.  Plus, special attention needs to be paid to your eye area, especially if you're wearing longwear/ waterproof eye makeup.  Click below for a better method to PROPERLY remove your makeup.....

My Kissable Couture Haul & (Super Honest) Review *Swatches and Pics Included*

So this past weekend was my first time trying out Kissable Couture (a line of lip glosses co-created by celebrity makeup artist, AJ Crimson).  I purchased it as part of my Holiday Pop-Up Shop haul, though I had no intention of buying any lip glosses at all.  What coerced me into picking up a couple of these items was seeing AJ Crimson's seminar in which he used Kissable Couture in "Fantasies" (an intense red) to instantly glamorize his model's look.  I was immediately sold.  I bought two products: the aforementioned gloss in "Fantasies" and the Kissable Couture Smooches I Mini Lip Gloss Set

Now I've gotta be honest, I wasn't as thrilled with the mini lip gloss set as I was with the individual gloss in Fantasies....so this review will be a "mixed bag," if you will.

3 Mistakes Made By Makeup Newbies to Avoid at All Costs!

I was inspired to write this post based on certain makeup faux pas I made in the past.  For instance, I used to think that mascara made my lashes look too fake, so refused to wear it on the average day.  I would leave my house wearing peach colored eyeshadow (or whatever color I pleased)....with undefined, bare, eyeshadow-powder-dusted lashes *gasp*...and mascara was reserved mostly for special occasions (cue jeers from the audience).  Now I look back and think, "what kind of silliness was that!?" o_0...Lol

So I'm writing this post in hopes that makeup newbies (or people who just don't know better) will take a cue from some of my past missteps and NOT follow suit.  HERE ARE 3 MAKEUP BLUNDERS TO AVOID......

BEAUTY TIP: What NOT to do with Your Make Up For Ever HD Powder!

Depending on how you use it, the Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder can either be your friend or foe.  It came on the market in 2008 as an all-around, universal (almost miracle) powder.  You rub it onto your skin, and in a few short seconds you watch as the once white, opaque substance magically disappears into the area in which it was blended.  BUT, many unfortunate souls have come to realize that this same 'magical' white substance can come back to haunt you once the flash bulbs go off!  Yep, this is the same (purported) product to blame for some of the most embarrassing paparazzi photos caught on the likes of celebrities such as......

BEAUTY ON A BUDGET: The Cheaper Alternative to MAC's Brow Pencil!

MAC brow pencils are a cult classic.  I have the color called 'Spiked,' which is a dark brown, and I love it!  It fills in my brows without looking glossy (like some eye pencils), and I NEVER have to sharpen it!  How awesome is that?  So awesome that some swear by it, refusing to use anything else.  But I'm here to tell you that there is an alternative that does the exact same thing....at half the cost!

BEAUTY TIP: Your Foundation Can Do Many Things But THIS, My Friend, Isn't One of Them!!

Foundations are an awesome invention!  They're great for enhancing your complexion, evening out your skin tone, and correcting skin discolorations (among many things).  But make no mistake, they do have their limitations and it's important for us as consumers to beware aware of this fact.  Many cosmetic brands market their products in a way that suggests you can achieve a flawless, poreless appearance despite what your skin looks like underneath....and this is oh so wrong!   Foundations can do seemingly miraculous things like transform a face full of acne spots into a perfectly even complexion....but there's one thing that it absolutely CANNOT do!...and that is.....

BEAUTY TIP: How to Knock Out Shine WITHOUT Caking on the Powder!

I know you're often told to use powder throughout the day to absorb the excess oil your skin produces, but constantly powdering the face on top of the foundation you're already wearing can cause your makeup to look 'cakey'!  Here's another way to knock out shine and mattify your makeup without caking on the powder.

BEHIND THE SCENES: Chinatown Shoot!

In August, I collaborated on two photo shoots with Australian photographer, Clare Harvey, who was in NYC for a couple of weeks to capture some great images.  The first shoot we did together was in the Strawberry Fields section of Central Park, where we channeled the 70's Beatles era.  The second shoot took place in downtown Manhattan (Chinatown to be exact), and included hairstylist, Myss Monique....model, Lucia Gioiello..... and designer, Nicole Hyle of Gamine (her designs and styling were on point!).

TAG: This or That!? (My Beauty Preferences)

It's a new week!...and I'm back with another post.  This isn't one of my regular posts, this is actually a tag I received, thanks to Kia of Yummy411 ... Basically, I have to answer the following questions, which ask me to choose one product over the other.  For example, 'Blush or Bronzer?...which would you choose and why?'....Once I'm finished, I 'tag' other beauty bloggers to answer those same questions.  It's fun to see all the different responses.

Let's begin! (Click below for my answers and reasoning)

Look of the Day: Dramatic Yellow & Blue Eyes with Pretty Pink Lips!

Beauty Tip: Exfoliate Your Lips! (2 Homemade Solutions Using Items from Your Kitchen)

Isn't it the most annoying thing ever when you put on your favorite bold lipstick only to see it highlight all the dry flakes of skin you didn't even know was there?  You thought you had soft, smooth lips...... until you applied that MAC Ruby Woo (or some other popular, especially matte lipstick).  I'm sure we all want those puckers to be in tip-top plump shape, but are we doing the things that will aid in that quest?  Most people are willing to add exfoliating to their daily beauty ritual when it comes to their face, but very few actually give their lips that same kind of attention.  Why not? There are many commercial products on the market for this purpose, plus there are simple steps you can take to achieve the same results using everyday items at home.

Hello Beauties! .... As you know, last Thursday was Fashion's Night Out, the event which kicked off NYC's Spring 2012 Fashion Week!  I had such a blast though it barely had anything to do with fashion.  I mostly visited cosmetic boutiques (like Sephora, MAC etc. in Soho) where I tested beauty products, indulged in yummy appetizers, sipped champagne, and stuffed my goody bag with free product samples ...who needs clothes?!
